Angel Reese had a perfect 9-for-9 shooting night from the field as the Atlanta Dream overwhelmed the Los Angeles Sparks 124-88 on Thursday night, adding another WNBA rebounding record in the process. Reese’s performance adds to a season in which Reese became the fastest player to reach 1,000 career rebounds and opened her Atlanta tenure becoming the fastest player to 50 career double-doubles.

USA Today reported that Reese finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals in 30 minutes. She also made both of her 3-point attempts and did not attempt a free throw, giving her a perfect night from the field.

Reese became the third player in WNBA history to record a 20-point double-double while shooting 100 percent from the floor. Her nine made field goals without a miss also set an Atlanta Dream franchise record.

The night added another rebounding milestone. Reese grabbed three offensive rebounds in the first half, moving past the single-season WNBA record of 172 offensive boards that she set as a rookie with the Chicago Sky in 2024.

Her performance came only days after a missed potential game-winning layup against the Indiana Fever left her unable to sleep. Reese responded with 21 points and 10 rebounds in Atlanta’s next game against the Las Vegas Aces before producing an even more efficient outing in Los Angeles.

Dream coach Karl Smesko called Reese’s performance “outstanding” and said her back-to-back games since the Indiana loss were something she could build on.

The achievement also carried personal meaning for Reese because Nneka Ogwumike, who announced this week that she will retire after the season, was the last WNBA player to post a 20-point double-double without missing a shot. Ogwumike scored 32 points with 10 rebounds on perfect shooting for Los Angeles in 2016.

Reese praised Ogwumike after the game for her influence on younger players and her work as president of the Women’s National Basketball Players Association.

Rhyne Howard led Atlanta with 26 points and five 3-pointers as the Dream set a franchise record for points in a game. Atlanta improved to 23-13, while Los Angeles fell to 12-24 and was eliminated from playoff contention.
